1. Take off your jewelry before getting into swimming pools or the ocean. Both Chlorine and salt water can damage some finishes of stones and discolor even gold and platinum pieces. .
2. Sunscreen, lotions, hair conditioners can all leave a residue on jewelry which can take away the sparkle. Use a slightly damp cloth to wipe jewelry after wearing to remove any products from them before you put them away.
 3. Store your jewelry in a dry place. Separate or wrap the pieces with softer stones like pearls, opals and turquoise to keep the harder pieces from scratching them. You don't have to spend a lot, paper towels will work just fine!
