TREE (S) OF THE MONTH: BALD CYPRESS AT CADDO LAKE, TX
Bald cypress grow among a tangle of aquatic plants. The vegetation at the lake is so dense that parts of the lake are really an interconnected maze of ponds. People have lived in this area for at least 12,000 years.
Caddo lake was the only natural lake in Texas until it was dammed in the early 1900s for flood control.
