The Sleeping Beauty Turquoise mine in Globe Arizona has been closed to turquoise mining. The owners of the mine are mining copper only since the price of that metal has risen significantly. There are no plans to open the mine up to turquoise mining in the future.
What is left of the Sleeping Beauty turquoise rough stones is going fast. Buyers from Europe and Asia are particularly fond of the stone- especially Egypt and Italy- and they are buying much of what is still available. The stone has already increased in price and will continue to do so as the supply continues to dwindle.
I am continuing to buy Sleeping Beauty as I find nice quality still at a relatively reasonable price. The briolettes and rondelles in the picture are on the way.
