Last June Weekend

Elementals will be at The Gibson St. Artisan Market on Friday, 6/28, Saturday, 6/29 and Sunday, 6/30 from 11 am to 5 pm.
Pictured is Ocean Jasper ( one of June's specials) on a sterling silver chain. In ancient times, fringe was thought to have the ability to keep evil spirits from a person or place!

Records show rock crystal has been used for tools, weapons, decoration and jewelry for at least 4,000 years.
The name quartz is German in origin but another name for the clear varierty, rock crystal, comes from the Greek for ice. Quartz's high thermo- conductivity makes it feel cool to the touch, and for centuries it was believed that clear, rock quartz crystals were permanently frozen ice.
From the late 1960's to the early 1990's, the metaphysical market used raw crystal in jewelry, spheres, sculls, pyramids and as charms. During the height of the trend, these uses accounted for 40% or more of the rock crystal consumed in the United States and  resulted in price increases for most of the crystals

June 21st, 22nd & 23rd

Elementals will be at The Gibson St. Artisan Market Friday, June 21 - Sunday, June 23. 11 to 5 all three days!

Rock Trivia: Tourmaline

The name tourmaline comes from the Singhalese 'tura mali' - loosly 'stone with mixed colours', referring to the colour spectrum of this gemstone, which includes all the colors of the rainbow and more. Egyptian legend has it that the tourmaline passed through a rainbow on its way to earth and took on those colors.
Perhaps the best known is "Watermelon Tourmaline" which has both pink and green in rings and so is often cut in slices. There are also tourmalines which change colour when in daylight or artificial light, and some show the light effect of a cat's eye.
It is said to be the gemstone of love and of friendship, and to keep those relationships strong and long-lasting.
